GLL has been shortlisted in the community-based social enterprise category of this year’s Social Business Wales awards, run by Cwmpas, for the work the leisure provider has been doing to improve local health and wellbeing.
With the aim of improving local health and wellbeing and working alongside the NHS, GLL has developed Water Workout and other programmes in its eight Cardiff-based leisure centres.
“By bringing NHS-supported services into our Cardiff leisure centres, we are helping thousands of residents get the support they need to lead healthier, more active lives,” said Matt Simmons, GLL Head of Transformation in Wales.
“There have been more than 2000 attendances for the Water Workout sessions in Cardiff, and our Active Leisure scheme includes 40 city-wide classes.
“We are delighted to have been shortlisted for these highly prestigious awards and look forward to the event at Y Muni in Pontypridd on 7 October when winners are announced.”
GLL joins Welcome to Our Woods, Stori Brymbo and PACTO as category finalists.
