A fun, sporting event for the over sixties is taking place at Bodmin Leisure Centre this September for the second-year running.
Providing an opportunity to take part in pickleball, walking cricket, walking netball and walking football, Cornwall’s Senior Club Games is open to anyone aged 60+ who would like to take part.
Individuals will be placed in teams on arrival and previous experience isn’t required. There will be six teams with a maximum of sixteen people in each and team trophies are awarded at the end of the day.
GLL, the charitable social enterprise that operates 9 leisure centres in Cornwall and more than 250 nationwide, has been holding Better Club Games in London for the past 20 years.
“The event has been rolled out to the regions and our first one at Bodmin last year got some excellent feedback,” said Karen Edmond, GLL Community Sport Manager.
“Applications are welcome from leisure centre members and non-members and entry costs just £4.50 for a full day of active enjoyment.
“It doesn’t matter if you’ve never played a sport before as there’s lots of support and encouragement on hand. I can honestly say I saw plenty of smiles and laughter when we held the games last October and I’m looking forward to having just as much fun this year.”
Cornwall’s Senior Club Games will be held on Tuesday 29 September from 9am to 5pm and registrations close on 7 September.
