Widely published children and young adults’ author Leila Rasheed will be leading a series of Reading Rounds at Stourbridge Library on 7, 14 and 21 September from 3-5pm.
Developed by the Royal Literary Fund (RLF), a Reading Round is a book group that encourages the experience of reading, listening to and discussing stories in a round table setting. Leila will pick and read the texts before opening them up for discussion and there is no need for advanced reading or preparation.
GLL is the charitable social enterprise that runs 13 Dudley libraries on behalf of the council.
“2026 is the National Year of Reading and, in partnership with the RLF, we’re delighted to be hosting these Reading Round events,” said Stephanie Rhoden, GLL Partnership Manager for Dudley Libraries.
“As an award-winning author and experienced creative writing tutor, Leila Rasheed will help each group get the most out of their reading. Each event is relaxed and inclusive and there’s no pressure to speak.”
The RLF first launched the Reading Round as a community-based programme in 2013.
“As adults we often forget the sheer joy of reading stories and poems aloud and talking about them with other people,” said Katharine McMahon, Director Workplace and Community for the RLF.
“For more than a dozen years, Reading Round has connected people across the country through cultivating a pleasure in great literature – and in this National Year of Reading, I’m delighted that the RLF is committed to training and supporting writers to share the fairy dust with adults in ever more diverse communities and settings.”
