For adults who enjoy alternative fiction, theatre and poetry, monthly free evenings with Tenebrous Texts at Dudley Library promise engaging entertainment.
Describing itself as specialising in “speculative, theatrical, alternative, mythological and dark and visceral fiction and poetry,” the locally based, independent book publisher will be launching two new books on Wednesday 22 July from 7-9pm.
The first, by author Shadow Liptrot, is entitled ‘Between Venus and Mars’ – a standalone, topical tale set in the ‘Garden of Time’ world that Shadow has written about before in ’Dreamcatchers’, ‘The Green Boy’, ‘Sun Moon and Harroway’ and ‘The Adventures of a Time Travelling Artist’.
The second book being launched is ‘Greater than Human,’ by Steven C Davis – the eighth in his ‘Less than Human’ series.
On Tuesday 18 August from 7-9pm, Tenebrous Texts will be holding a theatrical night at which storytellers and dramatists will present plays and performances on mythological, Paganistic and futuristic themes.
That will be followed on Wednesday 9 September, from 7-9pm, by a Robin Hood evening.
“’The authors are all very friendly and passionate about their work which engages the audience who come along,” said Sharon Whitehouse, Dudley Library manager.
“The events are always good fun and enjoyable. The subject matter is dark, theatrical and speculative which will appeal to readers of this genre.”
Operating under the Better brand, GLL is the charitable social enterprise that manages Dudley Libraries on behalf of the council.
