With Sedgley Library’s 25th birthday in Ladies Walk fast approaching, residents are being asked to share their memories of living and working in Sedgley.
Celebrations will take place from Monday 29 June to Saturday 4 July and recollections are being gathered for an event entitled ‘Thanks for the Memory: Sedgley Library and round about’ that is being held on Friday 3 July at 2pm.
“We’d love to hear about the people and places that have meant something,” said Tracy Rollason, Sedgley Library Manager.
“These might be in the form of written pieces handed in or emailed to the library and/or news cuttings and other ephemera that we could copy or borrow for a short period of time.
“We’re hoping to display as many items as possible during the birthday week and the event on 3 July will be an opportunity to reminisce and potentially create an archive for future generations.”
Operating under the Better brand, GLL is the not-for-profit social enterprise that runs thirteen Dudley Libraries on behalf of the council.
“Sedgley Library’s current building was significantly expanded in 2001,” said Stephanie Rhoden, GLL Partnership Manager for Dudley Libraries.
“It’s an important community hub that provides historical records of the Sedgley area. Personal memories are a vital part of building that resource and we look forward to collecting as many as possible.”
