Jennifer Mae Spooner will be reading The Bow Wow Ballet, written by Gabby Dawnay and published by Thames and Hudson, at Stourbridge Library on Thursday 28 May from 2-3pm.
Based in Birmingham, Jennifer has illustrated the children’s book that is described by the publisher as ‘an adorable, creatively chaotic story about a troupe of canine ballet dancers who are getting ready for their debut performance’.
Jennifer came second in The MacMillan Prize for Illustration in 2022, and The Bow Wow Ballet is her first picture book. Following the reading, Jennifer will be making ballet dog puppets.
“This promises to be a lively, creative session that children will love,” said librarian Jodi Wray.
“Jennifer is a hugely talented artist whose playful personality is reflected in the childlike wonder of her artwork.
“The event is free and booking is essential to avoid disappointment.”
