There’s lots to celebrate and be very proud of in Camborne.
That’s the message behind Positively Camborne – a new campaign aimed at showcasing some of the town’s many highlights.
Camborne’s Business Improvement District (BID) team is behind the initiative which builds on from a successful Fun Fridays and Summer of Marvellous Marvels programme that included Blue Aussie Pup, crafty workshops, live music and a magic potion workshop.
“It’s fair to say that Camborne has suffered from some very negative press in recent years and we’re determined to counteract that because, in truth, there’s so much good to shout about,” said BID Camborne Manager Anna Pascoe.
“We’re a close community and, in my view, an authentic one. Tourism isn’t our bread and butter as it is for many towns in Cornwall, and we work hard to support each other as much as we possibly can.
“There’s a lot going on to improve and brighten up our main streets, with Town Deal grants enabling businesses to smarten up their premises, new signage, captivating street art, cycling routes and much, much more. Our summer entertainments garnered some lovely comments on social media and we’re now beavering away on a Christmas events line-up that we hope will be memorable.
“We have some wonderful independent traders offering a range of goods and services you’ll never find anywhere else, and we’re dogged in our determination to give everyone who visits a warm, Camborne welcome.
“BID:BIS, the Camborne Business Intelligence Scheme we launched last year, is making a significant impact in reducing local crime and, despite some obvious challenges, there’s a general sense of genuine optimism and excitement about all that is to come.
“That’s what we’re trying to reflect in our Positively Camborne campaign and why I’m personally so proud of my hometown, its heritage and, most of all, its people.”
