The swimming pool at Better Bude Leisure Centre will be closed during repair works to the south side of the roof caused by Storm Darragh damage in December 2024.
Work will begin on Monday 8 September and is expected to take just over four weeks to complete. The pool will reopen on Friday 10 October.
Alternative arrangements are in place for foundation level swimming lessons to be held in an alternative pool throughout the closure period. The centre’s extensive gym and fitness programmes will continue as normal.
“We’re sorry about the temporary disruption which is necessary for safety reasons and have written to all our members to explain what’s happening,” said James Curry, GLL Head of Service in Cornwall.
“Storm Darragh certainly packed a powerful punch, but I’m delighted that Bude’s roof is being fully replaced, and its solar array repaired.
“I’d like to thank all our swimmers for their patience whilst this essential work is carried out and look forward to welcoming them back in early October.”
Operating under the Better brand, GLL is the not-for-profit social enterprise that runs Bude Leisure Centre and eight other centres in Cornwall on behalf of the council.
