There will be a big focus on summer swimming pool vibes when Better leisure centres throughout Cornwall hold their open weekend on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July.
The wide range of taster sessions available includes swim school, tennis, gym workouts and fitness classes.
Free health checks will also feature in many centres, with resident health facilitators on hand to advise on how to keep fit and well with exercise regimes tailor-made for individuals.
GLL is the staff-owned charitable social enterprise that runs Better leisure centres in Bude, Saltash, Liskeard, St Austell, Bodmin, Newquay, Truro, Helston and St Ives on behalf of Cornwall Council.
“We’re offering plenty of family fun this summer,” said senior manager Amelia Kitchen. “At Helston Sports Centre, for example, we’ll be rolling out our inflatable aquarun – known as the Cornish Crusher – for two hours of high energy pool time on the Saturday.
“There will also be swim school tasters for babies, toddlers and older children, junior gym tasters, cardio and strength and conditioning masterclasses and health checks.
“Each centre has its own programme, and some activities will be free, whilst normal pricing applies for others. We’ll be offering special membership deals throughout the weekend too.
“Leisure centres are key assets for local communities and our teams work hard to provide opportunities for everyone, no matter what their age, to improve their mental and physical fitness in socially enjoyable ways.
“We anticipate a busy weekend so booking is open now on the Better website or through the Better app.”
