Sir Michael Morpurgo, award-winning author Joanne Harris and broadcaster John Suchet are among the stars lining up for this year’s du Maurier Fowey Literary Festival.

Running from 9-17 May, the event has been rebranded to include reference to famous novelist Daphne du Maurier who made Fowey her home.

As well as celebrities from the worlds of fiction, non-fiction, broadcast and politics, there are music gigs, an art trail and visits to secret gardens.

Sir Michael Morpurgo will be talking about Spring and Cobweb, his two most recent books on10 May from 4-5pm; Joanne Harris will discuss Vianne, the much-anticipated prequel to her hugely popular novel Chocolaton15 May from 6-7pm and bestselling historical novelist Alison Weir will delve into the life and legacy of Thomas Wolsey on 12 May from 8-9pm.

Sir Graham Brady, former chair of the powerful 1922 Committee will chat about his new book Kingmaker on 10 May from 6-7pm; former Labour minister Alan Johnson will discuss Harold Wilson on 12 May from 6-7pm and Margaret Thatcher will be the topic when festival patron and political commentator Iain Dale takes to the stage on 10 May from 2-3pm.

TV presenter John Suchetloves Beethoven and will share the impact the composer’s music has had on his own life on 17 May from 6-7pm whilst royal expert and historian Kate Williams will uncover little known stories about the UK’s palaces on 13 May from 6-7pm and Dr Tessa Dunlop talks about her latest book Lest We Forget on 11 May from 6-7pm.

Musical performers include Mad Dog McCrea on 9 May from 8-10pm, Company B on 14 May from 8-10pm, Take a Chance on Us on 15 May from 8-10pm and Gigspanner Trio on 11 May from 8-10pm.
