Angela Bradford has just won £100 in the March BID Camborne loyalty card draw.
Angela, 58, loves shopping in Camborne’s high street – in fact she loves everything about the town that she and her partner have only called home for the last six months.
Having lived in the Black Country, north of Birmingham, Angela couldn’t be happier with the couple’s decision to move to a place she says has such a strong sense of community.
“We’d been coming to Cornwall on holiday for 27 years and have been thinking about moving down here permanently since lockdown,” she said. “We had a good look round different areas of the county to see what was available and, having sold our house in Walsall within three weeks, chose a bungalow in Camborne.
“We honestly love it here as it’s so much friendlier than where we lived before. Everyone seems happy to chat – including our post lady and the men who collect our bins. In contrast, I think the only time I ever spoke to the person delivering our post in the Midlands was on the day we left to sort out mail redirection.
“The town has everything we want – a helpful doctor’s surgery, a good selection of shops and a railway station. We can get to a beach within ten minutes and being able to get on a train means we can walk around different areas of Cornwall easily. I’ve only driven our car three times since we moved.
“We didn’t choose a rural location because we didn’t want to feel isolated, and Camborne has been brilliant in that respect too. Our neighbours are lovely, and we’ve made friends locally.
“I go to the weekly craft sessions held every Friday morning in Delight2Bite and also go to the crochet group that meets there on a Wednesday. Sharron, who owns and runs the delicatessen, organises our get-togethers and couldn’t be more welcoming. It’s a great way of meeting new people.
“I’m delighted to support businesses in the town and think the loyalty card scheme is excellent.
“Camborne gets a rough ride in some quarters, but I can’t praise it enough. We genuinely feel very lucky to live here and are so glad we made the move.
“It’s everything we hoped for.”
Launched by BID Camborne, the town’s loyalty card scheme works by encouraging shoppers to collect stamps from participating businesses.
A £2 minimum spend is required and, when ten stamps are collected on a card, it’s entered in the monthly draw to win prizes of £100, £75 and £50. Individuals can submit as many stamped cards as they wish.
Cards are available in participating Camborne businesses.
