Camborne MP George Eustice has competed in the Town Trail Time Trial.
A keen runner, the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs was seen pouring over a map beforehand to work out the best way of tackling the mile-long route, whilst ticking off its 12 sites of historic interest.
Chief of Staff Imogen Gardiner joined Mr Eustice on the trail, and both recorded successfully completing their activity on the Strava app.
The Town Trail Time Trial was funded by the Government’s Welcome Back Fund and organised by BID Camborne as part of a campaign to encourage people back to the high street now that Covid restrictions have lifted. Every trail participant got a certificate and a free, reusable, branded water bottle.
Also included in the campaign, which ran until the end of March, were regular free pop-up activities.
“It’s been very successful and has helped create a vibrant, happy buzz in Camborne after two years of lockdowns and pandemic restrictions,” said BID Camborne manager Anna Pascoe.
“George and Imogen were both determined competitors who enjoyed taking part in what has proved to be a fun way of seeing Camborne’s heritage highlights. The Story Republic and ‘Higher Beings’ performers were also in town on the day – adding their own unique contribution to a very entertaining, welcoming feel.”
