Camborne’s four cyclesauruses are taking up residence.

They emerged from long hibernation to join hundreds of people watching Tour of Britain cyclists race through the town and proved so popular they’re cementing their positions.

Named Thora, Nora, Romley and Joe after people who used to work at Holman Brothers Engineering Works on the same site that Tesco now stands, the brightly coloured and very endearing creatures appeared just before the big Tour of Britain event.

“They drew crowds of their own and liked it so much, they’re coming back permanently,” said BID Camborne manager Anna Pascoe. “It’s so exciting – especially as local businesses will also have the opportunity of commissioning their own cyclesauruses.

“In time, we could see more than just four of them and children might even be able to buy them as toys.”

Dormant for millennia and now reincarnated as impressive works of public art, Thora, Nora, Romley and Joe are carving out their own unique place in Camborne history.

Trevithick would have been proud.
