An investment of £154k has led to significant improvements to the leisure pool at Newquay Leisure World.
They include installing two new flume pumps, replacing filters with more sustainable glass media that use less energy and water, strengthening and redecorating the bridge, repainting the orange flume and tower, installing a new large flume floor, introducing a floating snake feature, installing a frog water fountain and toddler slide at the shallow end and implementing a new heating coil and recover session for greater energy efficiency.
The pool is currently open at weekends and every Wednesday afternoon after school. This will be expanded into a full daily programme by 20 July.
“Work started in February and, whilst the bulk of the upgrades were completed by the time the leisure pool opened at Easter, long lead times on the new features meant they have only just been fitted,” said Hannah Fautley-Morgan, General Manager.
“Swim school pupils enjoy free access to swim for all and family fun swim sessions in the leisure pool and, with everything now completed, we’re set for summer.”
Operating under the Better brand, GLL is the not-for-profit social enterprise that runs Newquay Leisure World and eight other Cornish leisure centres, on behalf of the Council.
