Residents in Lye are being the opportunity to take part in free mosaic workshops at Lye Library on Saturday 30 May and Saturday 6 June.
Led by international mosaic artist Caroline Jariwala and funded by the Police and Crime Commissioner, the events are part of The Life in Lye programme and open to adults aged 18 and over.
Once complete, the community mosaic will be displayed in Lye Library.
“No experience is needed and all equipment is provided,” said Annette Templar, Sector Library Manager.
“Those taking part will learn essential mosaic skills like cutting shapes with tile nippers, making crockery and using a range of adhesives.
“Caroline Jariwala creates colourful pieces using recycled ceramics and runs fun, hands-on workshops in schools, galleries and community spaces. We’re delighted to welcome her to Lye and are looking forward to seeing a wonderful, finished mural that’s been made by the people living here.
“Only six places per session are available so booking is essential.”
Operating under the Better brand, GLL is the not-for-profit social enterprise that runs Lye and twelve other Dudley libraries on behalf of the council.
“The Life in Lye programme promotes the many positive things happening in Lye and creates opportunities for the community to come together as one,” said Stephanie Rhoden, GLL Partnership Manager for Dudley Libraries.
“It’s a great initiative and we’re proud to be part of it.”
Two hour-long workshops are available on each day from 1230-1.30pm and 1.30-2.30pm.
