Businesses in Camborne are making the most of the one hour of free town centre parking being offered by Cornwall Council whilst highway improvements are taking place.

The work is part of Camborne Town Deal’s Renew project, a government-funded transport scheme designed to transform the appearance of the town centre, provide cyclists and pedestrians with better access and boost the local economy by encouraging more visitors.

Carried out by Cormac, developments began in November and are likely to be completed by the end of May. They include new seating and plant greenery, a new zebra crossing in Fore Street, paving repairs in Commercial Square, enhanced lighting and CCTV, parking provision for cyclists and road resurfacing.

One hour of free parking is available at Rosewarne car parks until the works end and there are plenty of bargains to be had in local businesses.

For example, there’s 50% off marked prices in Up Memory Lane Interiors and A Darn Good Yarn and 25% off in Jojangles gift shop.

Delight2Bite is running a range of weekly craft classes, Scallywags Café is giving out a free hot drink with each order off the specials’ menu, Ekam Yoga Studio has added monthly meditation workshops to its variety of regular yoga classes and Create CIC is offering a 10% discount when all four sessions of its new silver clay classes are booked.

“Camborne has a lot going on and it’s all feeling very positive,” said BID Camborne Manager Anna Pascoe.

“Road works can be disruptive, but businesses are open as usual and free parking, plus excellent bargains, are a very good reason to shop here.”
