Helston Sports Centre is running a free senior fitness day on Thursday 2 October, from 9.30am to 2pm.
The event is an opportunity for those aged sixty and over to try out a range of activities – including swimming, leg, bum and tum workouts and functional fitness sessions. Wellbeing checks will also be available.
Operating under the Better brand, GLL is the not-for-profit social enterprise that operates Helston and eight other leisure centres on behalf of Cornwall Council.
“We hold a senior activity club every Thursday as part of our normal programme, but this is a chance for anyone to see what we offer and have a go for free,” said Keith Blower, Helston Sports Centre Supervisor and Senior Lead.
“Internationally renowned public health expert Professor Sir Muir Grey says keeping active as you grow older is vital and that providing people with the tools to improve their physical and mental health helps them feel and function better.
“I see the difference regular exercise makes to those taking part in our sessions and couldn’t agree more. As well as getting fitter, individuals have fun, laugh a lot and make new friends.
“Come along and give it a try – for free.”
