The summer months can feel like an expensive time but leisure centres in Reading can help keep kids occupied for less than £10.
Activities on offer include under 16s swimming for just £1 in Swim for All sessions before 10am, football drop-ins for 8–15-year-olds for £1, and multi-sport drop-ins for £1. There are crash course swimming lessons for over 4s at £8.50 a session and junior gym from £4.50. Soft play, cycling lessons, athletics and family pickleball sessions are all on offer for under a tenner too.
Operating under the Better brand, GLL is the not-for-profit social enterprise that runs 4 leisure centres in Reading on behalf of the council. They are Meadway Sports Centre, Palmer Park Leisure Centre and Stadium, Rivermead Leisure Centre and South Reading Leisure Centre.
“We know how expensive it can be to keep children active, motivated and happy during the school holidays and our team has worked hard to put programmes in place in each of our centres that don’t cost the earth,” said Steph Smith, Area Community Sport Manager.
“Prices range by activity and leisure centre, and online booking is highly recommended.
“Visit individual websites to see what’s available.”
Reading’s Better leisure centres will also be holding and open weekend on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July.
