Cyclists are invited to St Austell Leisure Centre on 10 April and Bodmin Leisure Centre on 15 April to get a free MOT or easy fix for their bikes.

The Better Engagement in Active Travelling (BEAT) Project is funded through Active Travel England and Cornwall Council and delivered by charitable social enterprise GLL in partnership with The Cornwall Bicycle Project.

Both events include a puncture repair workshop, have-a-go outdoor cycling opportunities and a session on how to access Beryl Bikes in Cornwall. Bikes that are no longer being used can also be brought along for recycling – providing they’re not rusty.

“The BEAT Project is all about making better travel choices to protect the environment and improve mental and physical health,” said Karen Edmond, GLL’s Community Sport Manager in Cornwall.

“Experts will be available to give free practical advice on how participants can enjoy being active in Cornwall – whether or not they have a bike of their own.

“We want to remind people how much fun cycling can be and why it’s a wonderful, healthy way of experiencing our beautiful county.”

BEAT sessions will take place at St Austell Leisure Centre on 10 April from 1-4pm, 27 May 2-4pm, 29 July 10am-1pm and 9 September 10am to 1pm.

Bodmin Leisure Centre will hold their BEAT events on 15 April from 1-4pm, 29 May 12-3pm, 31 July 10am-1pm and 12 September at a time to be confirmed.
