Newquay Leisure Pool has been greeted with delight by children and adults eager to enjoy its flumes and aqua fun since it reopened at Easter.
After being placed in hibernation over the winter months to reduce energy costs, the pool is fully functioning again, and staff are looking forward to a busy May half term.
Operating under the Better brand, GLL is the charitable social enterprise which runs Newquay Leisure World on behalf of Cornwall Council.
“It’s been lovely to see families having a good time in there,” said Amelia Kitchen, GLL Senior Manager.
“I’m really proud of the team who worked so hard to get it all up and running and grateful to everyone who has supported us since the pool reopened by coming along and having a splashing time.
“GLL is a not-for-profit workers cooperative that exists to help improve the physical, mental and social well-being of our local communities. The cost of living has affected us all, but as an organisation we believe leisure centres provide a vital service that needs to be preserved.
“To that end, cost-saving measures like closing our fun pool over the winter had to be introduced.
“Newquay Leisure World has excellent facilities that include an indoor trampoline park, soft play, fitness suites and an additional 25-metre swimming pool.
“Plenty of options for families wanting an entertaining day out.”
