Thanks to funding from the Sport England Together Fund, Bodmin Leisure Centre is offering discounted adults swimming lessons and new walking tennis sessions to support people with low level health conditions.

Working in collaboration with Active Cornwall and local social subscribing networks, the programme aims to encourage a more active lifestyle.

“We’re working closely with our social prescribing partners to get local people engaged in activities that will help improve their conditions,” said Dale Taylor, General Manager at Bodmin Leisure Centre.

“Age UK and Lanivet Community Hall are also supporting us with use of their minibus to transport those coming to the leisure centre – another good example of what can be achieved when organisations get together and work in partnership.

“The LTA’s Walking Tennis programme is proving very popular around the country, and we’re delighted that Bodmin Leisure Centre is now running sessions too.

“There is no running and jumping and players can let the ball bounce twice – making it ideal for people returning from injury or those looking to build their confidence. Everyone plays at their own pace, whilst making new friends and improving fitness.”

Walking tennis sessions take place on Fridays at 1030am. Adult swimming lessons are on Tuesdays from 1030 to 11am and Thursdays from 3 to 3.30pm and 3.30 to 4pm.
