546 children throughout Cornwall enjoyed school holiday fun and food at Better leisure centres over the last 12 months thanks to the Time2Move programme.

Swimming and multi-sports are included in the sessions which last for a minimum of four hours each day and include a free meal for every child attending.

Mainly open to children who receive free school meals, there are a limited number of spaces available to other children at a cost of £12.50 per session.

Operating under the Better brand, GLL is a not-for-profit social enterprise that runs leisure centres in the county on behalf of Cornwall Council. It has been offering the Time2Move programme in close collaboration with Active Cornwall for the past 18 months.

“This is such a worthwhile scheme that enables hundreds of youngsters to keep active and eat healthily over the school holiday periods,” said GLL Community Sports Manager Karen Edmond.

“As a charitable organisation it’s important for us to support our local community as much as we can and those taking part clearly get a lot out of the experience.”

The Better leisure centres involved so far are Bodmin, Liskeard, Helston, Truro, St Ives and St Austell.
