A brand new and well-equipped functional fitness area at Newquay Leisure World is already getting rave reviews from customers.

“I also absolutely love the new outdoor space!” wrote one customer in an email to GLL General Manager Adam Riddle. “I don’t think there is anywhere like it in Cornwall, it’s amazing.”

Funded by GLL which runs Newquay Leisure World on behalf of Cornwall Council, the project involved converting an under-used covered space at the back of the centre.

“It allows our members to train outdoors whatever the weather with a canopy overhead,” said GLL Senior General Manager Amelia Kitchen.

“It’s a unique facility that’s added a whole new dimension to our Newquay offering and is already proving very popular. We’ve got new classes running there, with some of our fantastic fitness instructors and personal trainers on hand to help users achieve their goals.

“A lot has changed in the last three years and it’s important for us, as a leisure provider, to accommodate customers who want to exercise in the fresh air. As a not-for-profit social enterprise, GLL is committed to helping improve community health and well-being and this investment is designed to do exactly that.

“We’re delighted with the feedback we’re getting and anyone looking to kick start their fitness journey in January is welcome to pop by and take a look at what we have on offer.”
