Liskeard Leisure Centre is opening a new functional fitness facility on Thursday 10 November.
Work to change the existing gym layout will begin on 4 November, creating a short period of disruption whilst the new area is developed.
Functional fitness exercises support everyday life and include movements like walking, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting and lunging to work multiple areas of the body and strengthen muscles.
The investment is being financed by GLL, operating under the Better brand – a not-for-profit social enterprise that runs Liskeard Leisure Centre on behalf of Cornwall Council.
“The larger functional fitness area will be an exciting addition to the range of facilities Liskeard Leisure Centre currently offers,” said General Manager Brett Price.
“Functional training is very popular because it focuses on workouts that mimic everyday actions – resulting in better mobility and balance. It also helps your body become more efficient at burning calories and losing weight.
“Simple and safe for almost everyone, it’s a fun way of being active and getting fit.”
The refurbishment will include new floor matting and the gym will remain open throughout.
