Thirty-five competitors took to Camborne’s main street in the town’s first ever Tykes on Trikes event.

Organised by BID Camborne and sponsored by Tesco and the Tyacks Hotel, there were three races. The first was for children up to the age of five, the second for those aged 6-10 and the third for teenagers up to the age of fifteen.

Early rain failed to put participants off and everyone who crossed the finishing line was presented with a goody bag.

“We were delighted with the turnout and the enthusiasm of all those involved,” said BID Camborne Manager Anna Pascoe.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to all the volunteers who helped make it such a success.  We couldn’t have done it without them.

“Huge thanks as well to Camborne Town Council for loaning us signage, Tony at Rowe’s Cornish Bakers, Terry at Animals of Hope who wore his turkey outfit for the occasion, Paula and her team from Barnardo’s, Hannah at Downtown21, Jo from Jojangles and Councillor Godolphin for helping to marshal. Everyone mucked in and took on whatever roles were needed – including holding the distance paddles and taking charge of the road closures.

“As always, there was a great sense of community – something Camborne excels at.”
