Lang Bennetts Chartered Accountants have been shortlisted in the annual Tolleys Taxation Awards.

It’s the first time that Lang Bennetts have entered – making their success as category finalists even more impressive. The first Tolleys awards were held in 2001 and, since then, have become widely recognised in the taxation industry as benchmarks of excellence.

The firm was established in 1935, and tax planning has always been a key focus. Substantial business growth, combined with added complexities in tax legislation, led the firm to develop a specialist tax department led by qualified Chartered Tax advisers Simon Prior and Daniel Orasnjak.

“We’re absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted – this is a huge award to be nominated for,” said partner Helen Hood. “Our role is to help local businesses grow by giving them tax and business advice that looks way beyond the routine and obvious. The tax team works both independently, as well as supporting Lang Bennetts’ other departments, and that makes a positive difference to the success of our clients”.

“In the last 12 months we have advised on numerous transactions and assignments that include group reorganisations, substantial research and development claims, theatre relief claims, capital allowances within property, and HMRC investigations,” said Simon Prior.  “When looking back at the results we achieved for our clients in a 12-month period we were delighted with the level and quality of the work undertaken by our tax department

“We’ve also taken on cases where other accountants haven’t been able to offer a solution to a particular problem but, by taking a different approach, we’ve succeeded in achieving positive outcomes,” added Dan Orasnjak.  “That’s the joy of working for a firm like Lang Bennetts. The ethos is about being friendly, approachable and caring for all clients.”

The firm is one of four businesses shortlisted in their category – the three other contenders are based in London, Cirencester and Wales. Winners will be announced at a gala event held at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel in Mayfair on 16 May.
