Bodmin Leisure Centre is promoting both physical and mental wellbeing with the introduction of a weekly ‘Walking for Health’ group, starting in April.
Providing a friendly, welcoming environment that promotes the social aspect of walking together, the group will allow those who attend to increase their fitness, whilst meeting new people.
The walks will be short, over easy terrain and are aimed at those who are less active – though they are open to everyone.
“Following the success of the walks we have been running at St Austell Leisure Centre, which have become a highlight of the week for many of those who attend, we have made the decision to introduce a similar scheme at Bodmin,” said GLL’s Community Sports Manager Karen Edmond. “Whilst the physical benefits of these groups are obvious, the effects they can have mentally are just as important – if not more so.”
The first walk will take place at Bodmin on Wednesday 3rd April at 10am and will continue on a weekly basis.
Walking for Health is England’s largest network of health walks with hundreds of active schemes currently running.
