An extraordinary Christmas cake created by head chef John Mijatovic has raised £500 for the RNLI.

The culinary masterpiece featured the Royal Duchy Hotel where John has worked for the last ten years, Falmouth seafront, Pendennis Castle and, in the sea beyond the beach, the Falmouth RNLI lifeboat.

Hotel guests and visitors were able to view the creation through a specially-constructed glass dome. They were also invited to buy raffle tickets to win a free dinner for two in the hotel restaurant and make their own donations to the RNLI.

“We’re absolutely delighted with the proceeds from all John’s hard work and the Royal Duchy team’s generosity,” said Sylvia Batten, Secretary of the local RNLI Ladies Guild. “The cake was fantastic!”
