The Headland hotel in Newquay is thrilled to have been chosen to host this year’s Cornish National Waiter’s Day.
The event, which is the brainchild of ‘First Dates’ Fred Sirieix, and led by The Springboard Charity, aims to both highlight careers in the front of house industry and to raise funds towards Springboard’s Food and Beverage (FAB) programme.
National Waiters’ Day was designed to celebrate all front of house staff. Whether a waiter in a fine dining restaurant or a mixologist, bartender or barista, it’s intended as a day for all.
The event also aims to change the perception of front of house and service roles as an unskilled job with long working hours to one that offers great skills. Front of house positions can lead to rewarding careers with great progression routes and amazing rewards.
The event at The Headland, on Wednesday 16th May, will see teams from local businesses and schools come together to take part in a number of fun activities, including races and paddle-boarding. There will also be the opportunity to talk to Springboard and The Headland’s recruitment team regarding careers within the industry.
Businesses from across the UK will also hold National Waiters’ Day events. From here in Cornwall, all the way to Edinburgh, businesses will host taster days, races and talks, which they are encouraged to share on social media.
