Donations made during the recent ‘Terrace Takeover’ event at the Headland Hotel in Newquay have raised £144.70 for The Springboard Charity.
Working in partnership with Truro and Penwith College, the aim of the evening was to raise awareness of new apprenticeship jobs that will provide anyone over the age of 16 with an opportunity to start a career in the Cornish hospitality sector.
Those attending the event were treated to a special menu designed by the hotel’s current apprentices. Both interested learners and parents were given the chance to learn more about apprenticeships – meeting members of the college’s apprenticeship team, the hotel management team and the apprentices themselves. For those who wished to, applications could then be submitted for positions available at the hotel.
Michelle Brown, HR Learning and Development Manager at The Headland said, “It was fantastic to see so many young individuals taking an interest in the hospitality sector. We were really pleased with the number of applications received during the evening and look forward to working with the college further to promote the many career roles available within the industry.”
The Springboard Charity works with young people and unemployed, disadvantaged and underprivileged people of any age to help them succeed in a career within the hospitality, leisure and tourism sectors.
