Visitor parking charges at Mother Ivey’s Bay Holiday Park, near Padstow, have raised £700 towards the National Trust’s ongoing conservation work at Trevose Head – one of Cornwall’s most prominent and beautiful headlands.

The total is made up of all proceeds taken from visitor parking in the last year and represents the holiday park’s commitment to preserving and protecting the local environment. The site is situated just above Mother Ivey’s Bay and provides easy walking access to Trevose Head.

Matt Lewis is the National Trust’s north Cornwall project manager. He said:

“We are really grateful for the support we get from the team at Mother Ivey’s. They are always promoting the National Trust’s work on the headland to their visitors. This donation represents a valuable contribution to the cost of on-going access and habitat improvements to the headland that will benefit both wildlife and visitors.”

“Our plan is to introduce cattle and sheep grazing in the near future to help break up the density of the grass sward allowing a more diverse mix of grasses and wildflowers to spread and establish. The environment is stunning and we want people to enjoy it, whilst also enhancing and protecting the natural habitat that makes it so exceptional.”

Thanks to generous gifts in wills and donations, the National Trust acquired Trevose Head’s 221 acres in 2016. The area is home to one of the strongest populations of Corn Bunting birds in the South West and visitors are now able to benefit from the improved access and enjoy the flora, fauna and views.

“We know how enormously lucky we are to run a holiday park in such wonderful spot but we are never complacent when it comes to environmental protection,” said Mother Ivey’s Bay Holiday Park owner Patrick Langmaid. “We have a policy of encouraging guests to only bring one car and it seemed right to donate all the visitor parking charges accrued to the National Trust.

“They do an excellent job of preserving our landscape for current and future generations and we are only too pleased to do whatever we can to help.”
