Mel Rylatt, from Grampound Road, and Alison Norman, from St Austell, have extra special reasons for celebrating the arrival of 2017. Both work in Lang Bennetts’ Chartered Accountants Truro office and both have been promoted.
Mel joined the firm four years ago as a trainee accountant after several years travelling in America and Australia. Having gained experience in a variety of departments including audit and personal tax, she takes up her new role as manager from 1 January.
“I’m really delighted,” said Mel. “Lang Bennetts is a very friendly place to work and we’re all encouraged to progress. My new job will involve working with new clients which is something I enjoy.”
Alison Norman joined the Lang Bennetts’ administration team nine years ago and confesses that, at the time, she expected to find the world of accountancy rather rigid and dull.
“I couldn’t have been more wrong,” she said. “There are fifty members of staff in our Falmouth and Truro offices but the bosses know everyone and it’s all very relaxed, happy and fun which our clients love. I’m a very organised person who loves making lists so being an administrative coordinator has always suited me perfectly. My new role means I will be team leader.”
Lang Bennetts’ partner Helen Hood delivered the promotion news.
“Mel and Alison are both highly valued members of our team and thoroughly deserve this recognition of their efforts,” she said. “I’m very pleased for them both.”
