Courageous coastal path walker, Action Nan – aka Pat Smith – received a warm welcome and a donation from Mother Ivey’s Bay Holiday Park near Padstow when she crossed the resort’s path on Monday.
Action Nan was 100 miles and seven days into her 300 mile, 21-day, fundraising trek along the Cornish section of the South West Coast Path when she passed the award-winning holiday park.
The team at Mother Ivey’s Bay has been following Action Nan on Twitter as she walks to raise money for the RNLI. When she tweeted as she passed after visiting the Padstow lifeboat, Alison McColville, Head Gardener at the holiday park, ran out to meet her.
Alison said: “I thought I’d missed her but I stood on the headland at Booby’s Bay that looks down onto the lifeboat station and saw her coming. We had a very British conversation about the weather, how we could sponsor her and how much everyone at the holiday park admires what she’s do-ing.”
Action Nan, whose family owns Bosinver Holiday Cottages, St Austell, said: “I was really chuffed to see Alison. We don’t know each other but she ran up to me and asked if I was Action Nan. She was so supportive. It gives you such a boost to know people are rooting for you like that.”
