A family-run holiday park that enjoys stunning views on Trevose Head, Padstow, has scooped Gold in the Holiday Park and Holiday Village of the Year category of the South West Tourism Awards.
Mother Ivey’s Bay is run by Patrick and Margaret Langmaid and their team of up to 25 staff. Offering camping, caravan and motorhome holidays, the park was also named Winner of Winners at the Cornwall Tourism Awards in November.
The south west event took place in the impressive surroundings of Exeter Cathedral and was hosted by ITV presenters Kylie Pentelow and Ian Axton.
“What an amazing way to round off a truly fantastic year for the Park,” said a delighted Patrick Langmaid who went on stage with his wife Margaret to collect the trophy. “We are thrilled that the hard work of our staff has been acknowledged in this way and would like to thank them and our guests – many of whom return year after year – for their continued loyalty and support.
“Making sure that our customers have a wonderful time with us is central to everything we do. Our team are committed to going the extra mile and that’s why I’m a firm advocate of the Living Wage campaign. Paying a fair and proper hourly rate empowers staff, improves morale and encourages excellent work.”
Travel journalist and Chair of the Family Holiday Association, Alison Rice, chaired this year’s South West Tourism Awards’ judging panel.
She said: “These high calibre awards reflect the quality and breadth of the treasures that visitors to the South West can enjoy. The judging panel of tourism professionals did not have an easy time!”
