Rudis

It’s not often that a business is named after a sixteen month old child but that’s what happened when Ross and Soraya Jackson-Hicks opened Rudi’s, a new hairdressing salon in Falmouth.

Rudi is their son and, whilst he hasn’t yet started picking up scissors, the salon is very much a family affair.  Ross, who has been in the industry for fifteen years, works there full-time and his wife Soraya is a part-time colour technician.  They are joined by full-time stylist Stephanie Bell and part-time assistants Imogen Bell, Stephanie’s sister, and Carly Geach.

The salon opened in Well Lane in September.  With just a matter of weeks between leaving their previous premises and launching Rudi’s, Ross and his team were pushed to get their new place ready in time.  Thanks to professional help from Ian Walden of Hush Creative Falmouth, Jason Caddy of Creative Signs in Camborne, Paddy Blake of Blake Construction and Falmouth-based designer Stephen Murray from Rivamiura Interiors, however, they met their launch deadline.

“Everything has come together brilliantly and we’re really pleased with the way it’s all looking,” said Ross.  “Well Lane, which runs between New Street and the town centre is ideally positioned and we’re delighted that our clients from the old premises have followed us here.

“The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly and, with lower overheads, we’ve been able to reduce prices quite significantly.  Rudi is a bit young to understand what is going on but hopefully he’ll one day feel proud to know that his parents chose to name the salon after him.”
